Portable outdoor digital signage is not one product - it is three working formats. LumiLink builds an A-frame digital board for shopfront pavements, a foldable poster display for transport between venues, and a wheeled battery powered unit for open plazas. All three share the same sunlight-readable 1,800-2,000 cd/m2 panel, 14-hour battery runtime and IP65 outdoor cabinet, so the choice comes down to how the screen must move, not how bright it is.
Search for portable outdoor digital signage and you will be shown three very different products under the same name. One is a folding A-shaped board you carry out of a shop each morning. One is a flat poster screen that collapses into a case for the back of a car. One is a tall wheeled unit that rolls across a plaza on its own casters. They share a category name but they solve different problems, and buying the wrong format is the most common - and most expensive - mistake in this product line.
Lumi Link builds all three, on one common engineering platform. Every portable digital signage screen in the range uses the same sunlight-readable panel rated 1,800 cd/m2 on the 32 and 43-inch models and 2,000 cd/m2 on the 55-inch, the same 40,000-50,000 mAh blade battery good for 14 hours per charge, and the same IP65 galvanized-steel outdoor cabinet. Brightness and weather protection are therefore not the deciding factors - the question is how the screen has to move through the day.
This page is written as a selection guide rather than a product brochure. Section two compares the three formats side by side; section three matches each one to real locations; the remaining sections cover the shared specification, handling, power planning, content management and delivery. If you already know you need flat-folding transport, read our dedicated foldable poster display page; if you need the classic sidewalk sign, start with the A-frame digital board.
The three formats are best understood by the way each one is stored and moved.
The A-frame digital board imitates the chalk A-board it replaces: two faces, a hinged top, and a small footprint that stands on any pavement. It folds flat for storage and is carried in and out by one person. Choose it when the screen lives at one address but must disappear indoors after closing.
The foldable poster display is a single tall screen on a folding frame. Closed, it is a slim case that travels in a car boot; open, it stands as a floor-level poster. Choose it when the same screen serves several venues in a month - exhibitions, pop-up stores, hotel lobbies - and transport volume matters more than daily handling.
The wheeled battery poster puts the screen on a tall chassis with two solid wheels and a pull handle. It is the heaviest of the three (35, 40 and 65 kg for the 32, 43 and 55-inch models) but the only one that never has to be lifted. Choose it when the screen covers long distances over paved ground, or when one unit has to work three positions in one day.

MoreFormat choice becomes obvious once the location is fixed. These are the placements where each type of outdoor portable LCD display consistently justifies itself:
Shopfront pavement and cafe entrances - A-frame. The pavement outside a store is measured in centimetres of walking space. The A-frame occupies the smallest footprint of the three formats at floor level and reads as a familiar sidewalk sign to pedestrians, which lowers the learning curve. Roll it in at closing and the pavement is clear.
Exhibitions, pop-up retail and hotel lobbies - foldable. These venues change weekly, and the screen travels with the team. A foldable unit ships as luggage, opens in under a minute and needs no vehicle larger than a hatchback. It is also the format that tolerates stairs, lifts and narrow service corridors.
Wide pedestrian streets, plazas and event grounds - wheeled. Where the ground is smooth and the distance is long, wheels win outright. One operator rolls a single unit from the station entrance in the morning to the food court at lunchtime and to the event gate in the evening - three paid placements, one screen, no lifting and no vehicle.
Mobile display on mixed ground. For a truly general-purpose mobile digital display that has to cross kerbs, ramps and both indoor and outdoor surfaces, the wheeled format remains the most versatile single purchase, provided the route is paved rather than gravel.
Sunlight-readable panel with auto-dimming: 1,800 cd/m2 on the 32 and 43-inch models, 2,000 cd/m2 on the 55-inch, with 3,500:1 contrast and an ambient light sensor that matches brightness to conditions - keeping the image readable at noon and cutting glare and power draw as daylight fades.
14 hours of cordless playback: a 40,000 mAh (32-inch) or 50,000 mAh (43/55-inch) blade battery delivers a full trading day per charge, recharged overnight in 7 hours. No power outlet is required at the point of display, in any of the three formats.
IP65 outdoor cabinet: full galvanized steel with outdoor-grade powder coating, dust-sealed and rain-jet protected, with an operating range of -50 C to 110 C supported by a wind-cooled heat-dissipation structure.
Anti-reflective 6 mm tempered glass: laminated AR glass suppresses surface glare outdoors and carries the impact rating for unattended public placement.
Wi-Fi, 4G and USB content routes: Android 7.1.1 playback with cloud CMS scheduling over Wi-Fi or optional 4G, USB plug-and-play for offline sites, and OTA updates so a deployed fleet stays current without recall.
Lockable battery compartment and modular internals: the battery sits behind a keyed door to deter tampering in public spaces, and player board, battery pack and panel are separate drop-in modules for low-cost long-term servicing.
Two-channel audio and multi-format playback: stereo output for campaigns with sound, and support for 30+ video formats, common image formats and scrolling text, with storage expandable to 32GB.

Size & Dimensions - engineering drawings with human-scale reference for all three models. The A-frame and foldable formats share the same three screen sizes, so one set of drawings covers the whole portable range.

Fixed signage is installed at one location and usually needs a mains supply and structural fixing. Portable outdoor digital signage runs on an internal battery, requires no installation and can be repositioned by one person - either carried (A-frame, foldable) or rolled (wheeled unit). The trade-off is that portable units must be recharged overnight, while fixed screens run continuously where power exists.
Ask one question: how far does the screen have to travel? Within one shopfront, choose the A-frame digital board. Between venues by car, choose the foldable poster display. Across long paved distances or between multiple daily positions, choose the wheeled battery poster. All three share the same panel, battery and IP65 cabinet, so the formats differ in handling, not in display quality.
A full charge delivers 14 hours of continuous playback - a complete trading day. Recharge is 7 hours from empty to full, designed as an overnight cycle. The 32-inch model uses a 40,000 mAh pack; the 43 and 55-inch models use 50,000 mAh. The ambient light sensor lowers backlight output in shade and after dark, so mixed indoor-outdoor duty often stretches beyond the rated figure.
Yes. Panels are rated 1,800 cd/m2 (32 and 43-inch) and 2,000 cd/m2 (55-inch) with 3,500:1 contrast, and anti-reflective tempered glass suppresses surface reflection. That is roughly twice the brightness of typical indoor-grade 700-1,500 nit portable units, which wash out under midday sun.
The enclosure is IP65 rated across the full cabinet - dust-tight and protected against rain jets - with a galvanized steel body and outdoor powder coating. Operating temperature spans -50 C to 110 C with wind-cooled heat dissipation, covering winter mornings and summer heat that stall consumer-grade screens. We still advise bringing any portable unit in during extreme storms.
32-inch, 43-inch and 55-inch, all portrait Full-HD 1080x1920 with 178/178 viewing angles. Dimension drawings for all three appear in the specifications section above, including folded-state footprints and human-scale reference.
Neither. The battery removes the power requirement, and content can be updated over Wi-Fi or optional 4G where a network exists, or by USB stick where it does not. That combination is what allows deployment at pavements, plazas and event grounds that have no electrical or network infrastructure at all.
Through the cloud CMS: schedule playlists per screen, per daypart and per location from one dashboard, push updates over Wi-Fi or 4G, and monitor playback status remotely. For sites without connectivity, export the playlist to a USB stick and the player syncs it automatically. OTA updates keep firmware current across the fleet.
Manufacturing is certified under ISO9001, 3C, FCC and UL. Two years of warranty on the full unit with lifetime technical support, and replacement parts remain available for 5+ years after purchase.
Screen size in a portable product is a handling decision as much as a visual one. The three models are identical in electronics - they differ in weight and reach.
32-inch (35 kg). The lightest unit in the range and the easiest to carry between a shop and a store room. Best for narrow pavements and indoor-outdoor transitions where the screen is moved daily by a single operator.
43-inch (40 kg). The volume model. It gives roughly 40% more screen area than the 32-inch for 5 kg more weight, and it is the size most buyers choose for sidewalk retail, food outlets and hotel entrances.
55-inch (65 kg). The impact model, and the one that genuinely benefits from wheels. Its 2,000 cd/m2 panel and larger format make it the right choice for plazas, event grounds and forecourts where viewing distance is long - but at 65 kg it should be rolled, never carried, and the route should be paved.
Two practical rules come out of the weight table. First, if the daily route involves stairs or a vehicle, stay at 32 or 43-inch. Second, if the unit will stand in open ground subject to gusting wind, go one size up rather than down - a heavier cabinet with a wider base is more stable, and the low-mounted battery does the rest. A third point applies to any outdoor portable LCD display in the range: the cabinet, panel grade and battery are the same across all three sizes, so weather protection and sunlight readability never change with the price point - only the screen area does.
A portable screen fails in service for logistical reasons far more often than electronic ones. Work through this list before the first unit ships.
1. Measure the route, not just the position. Check door widths, lift dimensions, kerbs and gradients. A wheeled unit needs a paved route; an A-frame or foldable unit needs a storage point with a floor area larger than the folded footprint.
2. Confirm the charging socket. All models recharge from AC100-240V in 7 hours. Identify where the unit will sit overnight and make sure a socket is within reach of the charger - not of the display position.
3. Set the tilting angle on site. The screen tilt is adjustable so the display face can be levelled on uneven pavement. Adjust it once at the permanent position and lock it; a tilted screen that faces slightly downward reads better to pedestrians.
4. Plan the content switch at opening and closing. Daytime menu, evening promotion, weekend campaign - schedule playlists in advance through the CMS so nobody has to remember to change the screen manually.
5. Decide the weather policy. IP65 covers rain and dust. Extreme storms, floods and hurricane warnings are a different matter: any portable unit should be brought indoors, and the battery cabinet locked.
6. Brief the operator on the wheel locks. Where lockable casters are fitted, the unit should be locked whenever it is left unattended. This is the single largest determinant of wind stability in everyday use.
Two specifications decide whether a portable digital signage screen deployment is realistic: what the battery actually delivers, and what the cabinet actually survives.
Battery arithmetic. The 43/55-inch pack stores 50,000 mAh at 24V - about 1,200 Wh. System draw in playback is capped at 100 W and 3 W on standby. At full backlight that gives a theoretical floor near 12 hours; the rated 14 hours is reached because the ambient light sensor trims backlight output whenever full sun is not hitting the panel. Running cost works out at roughly 1.2 kWh per day - a few cents of electricity for a full day of display.
Weather envelope. IP65 applies to the complete cabinet, not just the front panel - an important distinction, because units rated only at the screen face leave the battery and electronics exposed from behind. The operating range covers -50 C to 110 C with wind-cooled heat dissipation and an aluminum heat-spreading base plate, so cold-morning startups and heatwave afternoons are handled by design.
For a 24-hour deployment rather than a trading day, plan a midday top-up or rotate a second battery-equipped unit. Because the charge-to-run ratio is 1:2, a short top-up at lunchtime is usually enough to carry a unit through an evening event.
A mixed fleet of A-frame, foldable and wheeled units should be managed as one system, not screen by screen. The Android 7.1.1 player supports three content routes:
Cloud CMS over Wi-Fi or 4G. The primary route for fleets: schedule playlists per unit, per daypart and per location from a single dashboard, monitor playback status remotely, and push updates without visiting the site. Multi-site operators run city-wide campaigns from one browser tab.
USB plug-and-play. For markets, rural events and construction sites with no reliable connectivity, export the playlist to a USB stick and the player syncs and loops it automatically. Switching a market screen to a new promotion takes under a minute on arrival.
OTA system updates. Firmware and player software update remotely, so a fleet stays current without recall. Playback covers 30+ video formats, common image formats and scrolling text, with storage expandable to 32GB via TF card.
Because all three formats share the same player, the same playlist structure and the same CMS, a campaign designed for a wheeled plaza unit can be pushed to an A-frame on the same day - which is the practical reason to buy a portable range from one manufacturer rather than mixing suppliers by format.
Portable hardware lives a harder logistics life than office screens, so packaging and support matter as much as the specification sheet.
Export-grade packing. Each unit ships in a foam-lined carton sized to its folded footprint, with batteries travelling under certified packing documentation for air and sea freight. Standard cabinet colours are silver, grey, white, black and red, and the modular design means spare player boards, battery packs and panels ship as drop-in modules rather than whole-unit returns.
Factory-direct supply. Lumi Link manufactures in-house under ISO9001, with 3C, FCC and UL certification on the product line. Units can be supplied as one screen for a storefront pilot or as a fleet of mixed formats across multiple cities.
After-sales. Two years of warranty on the full unit, lifetime technical support with 24-hour weekday response, and replacement parts available for 5+ years. The deployment team helps plan runtimes, charging schedules and CMS structure before the first screen ships - including which format suits each position in your rollout.
